Borussia Dortmund confirmed Salih Özcan's return to the club following Felix Nmecha's latest injury, which sidelined him for several weeks. The Turkish international was loaned out to Wolfsburg once he would not be utilized by former manager Nuri Sahin.
However, Özcan was called back to his Black-and-Yellow duties to provide the necessary depth to Dortmund's midfield and become an option to replace Nmecha until he is healthy again. According to Patrick Berger, Özcan could already be available in the squad against Heidenheim on Saturday.
With Özcan's return, it becomes unlikely that Dortmund will sign another midfielder this winter. As reported by BILD, Dortmund plans to sign a winger and a defender until the transfer deadline on February 3rd.
