Sebastian Kehl: Borussia Dortmund conceding too many easy goals at the moment
By Tushar Bahl
Sebastian Kehl has been left annoyed with how easily teams are able to score goals against Borussia Dortmund at the moment.
Days after conceding five goals in one half to Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund let a lead slip once again on Saturday as they lost 2-1 to FC Augsburg. The Black and Yellows have not kept a clean sheet in more than a month (3-0 vs Club Brugge), and have conceded 18 goals in just seven games in that period.
Sebastian Kehl annoyed with the amount of goals Borussia Dortmund are conceding
Following Borussia Dortmund's 2-1 defeat to FC Augsburg in the Bundesliga, Sebastian Kehl lamented how easily they lost control of the game after taking the early lead. He added that the ultimate responsibility lies on the pitch, and the players must ensure that the team starts to perform better to turn things around.
"We took the lead and actually had the game under control," Kehl said on Sky Sport. "But then we conceded easy goals again. And then we were playing catch-up and were too harmless in front of goal throughout the game. I'm annoyed that we're conceding so many goals. We've spoken about that a lot, but now we're having to explain some things that I just can't explain."
"In the end, the responsibility lies on the pitch and we have to make sure that the guys who are on the pitch from the start do better."
The Borussia Dortmund sporting director also gave his backing to Nuri Sahin, who has come under increasing pressure in recent weeks following the team's poor start to the season. The 36 year old replaced Edin Terzic as head coach in the summer.
Two massive games await Borussia Dortmund next week, as they take on VfL Wolfsburg in the DFB-Pokal before hosting RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga.
