There’s no denying Borussia Dortmund’s squad is likely to look very different next season, with numerous sources linking the Black and Yellow’s with Jude Bellingham’s younger brother, Jobe Bellingham from Sunderland, and renewed links to Lyon’s Rayan Cherki, among others. It’s been made clear that BVB will not only have to make room in the squad, but also fund their expensive transfers.

Despite the uncertainty, the tabloid, Sport Bild reports that several Borussia Dortmund players are safe from departure, and should be seen as the core squad to be built around. Nico Schlotterbeck, who is out until the fall with a terrible knee injury, and Waldemar Anton can be seen as a long-term pairing in the center of defense. Anton will be entering the second year of hist contract, and Nico Schlotterbeck is on his way to becoming the face of Borussia Dortmund, and could earn the captaincy in the near future.

The others include Julian Ryerson, who has been a consistent player since his arrival from Union Berlin, Daniel Svensson, who just signed a permanent deal until 2029, and Yan Couto, who is young and improving. In addition, Karim Adeymi, Pascal Groß, and Felix Nmecha are all expected to remain at the club.

According to the report, the futures of both Emre Can and Niklas Süle will be decided this summer. Both players will be entering the final year of their contracts. While the club could decide to cash in on these veteran players, they may also choose to keep them for their defensive experience, as it’s unclear what role Niko Schlotterbeck will play in the first half of next season as he recovers from injury.

Ramy Bensebaini could be available for offers of 20-million euros or more, according to the same report, and Amulgara Kabar could be heading for a loan. Somaila Coulibaly is set to return from his loan to Brest, but the club does not see future for him in Black and Yellow. He could find himself in good company among the many potential departures.
