Borussia Dortmund were held to a goalless stalemate by the relegation-battling Union Berlin in the Bundesliga on Saturday, marking the third consecutive winless affair for them post the international break.

Boasting an excellent head-to-head record in the fixture, the BVB were widely considered as favorites to clinch all three points here with the Iron Ones enduring a poor top-flight campaign this season. But much to the fans' detriment, Dortmund were lackluster once more.

They failed to muster a single shot on target in the opening half with the visitors struggling to create clear-cut goalscoring opportunities as Berlin held tight at the back and constantly sought to disrupt their passing game.

Dortmund looked far brighter after Fabio Silva was introduced in the match but lacked that killer, final ball to cut open the Iron Ones. After winning their opening four league games, the Prussians have now drawn twice in a row.

Here's how fans reacted to the result:

One X user by the name Florian has lost hopes already:

"The new, more offensive game plan is working. 0 goals in Bodø and Berlin. The season is already over. Because we're not winning the cup anyway. A footballing confession of faith. 3 games in a row down the drain. Well done, guys."

Calls for Kovac's sacking grew louder too:

"Kovac out! He’s destroying our club."

Another BVB fan was irked to see Konstantinos Karetsas go off with an injury:

"Konstantelias & Karetsas injured, Kovac as coach. Football god you son of a bitch"

One X user tore into the BVB full-backs, Daniel Svenson and Julian Ryerson:

"With players like Ryerson and Svensson, you can’t possibly play any better—it’s abysmal, they aren’t even Bundesliga-caliber."

Global Football Pulse tweeted:

"A hard-fought point on the road

Time to focus on the next one"

One X user demanded accountability from Kovac after one more disappointing performance:

"Yeah, sure, you can drop points like that👍🏻 I'm curious what excuses Kovac's got lined up this time instead of finally owning up to it and criticizing himself and his nonexistent game plan"

One fan questioned Kovac's refusal to call upon Joey Veerman:

"Does our loser of a coach know that we have a player like Veerman in the squad who is perfect for exactly these kinds of matches?"

One fan pointed out Dortmund's failure to create chances in the match:

"Not a single big chance the entire match, btw."

And finally, one fan summarized everything wrong with the side right now:

"It’s all just sad now. Nothing but bad luck with injuries, extremely limited options in the wing-back positions, and on top of that, the style of football under Kovač. It’s just a disaster."
