Borussia Dortmund slipped up yet again as Union Berlin held them to a goalless stalemate in the Bundesliga on Saturday, BVB's second consecutive draw in the competition after winning four in a row previously.

Niko Kovac's side were undone by a spirited Berlin side who defended with all their might, restricting Dortmund to a few long shots that flew harmlessly wide. It wasn't until the final 20 minutes when they clicked into gear and began to see openings.

However, the visitors still lacked the final ball to kill off their chances with Maximilian Beier wasting perhaps their best chance of the night by firing a delicious ball in from Julian Ryerson wide. With Bayern Munich cruising through their clash against RB Leipzig, Dortmund remained in second place with the holders back on top.

Here are 10 key stats from yesterday's match:

1) Borussia Dortmund's winning run against Union Berlin ended after four games. Prior to the 0-0 draw, they had beaten the Iron Ones 6-0, 3-0 and 3-0 in their last three meetings.

2) Borussia Dortmund kept a clean sheet against Union Berlin for the fourth game in a row, their best defensive record against any side in the division right now.

3) Borussia Dortmund failed to score in a Bundesliga game for the first time this season; they last failed to score against Borussia Monchengladbach on 3 May, ending a seven-game scoring run in the competition.

4) Borussia Dortmund have failed to beat Union Berlin just five times in their history - all five of them have come away from home.

5) This was the first draw between Borussia Dortmund and Union Berlin in their rivalry; never had the sides shared the spoils in a league encounter from their previous 14 meetings.

6) Borussia Dortmund have drawn consecutively in the Bundesliga for the first time since November 2025; back then, the BVB were held by Hamburger (1-1) and VfB Stuttgart (3-3).

7) Borussia Dortmund remained unbeaten in the new Bundesliga season after six games, just as last year. Ironically, they had drawn twice and won four at the time too.

8) Borussia Dortmund have kept a clean sheet for the fourth time in their opening six Bundesliga matches; only Hoffenheim and Werder Bremen have managed to score against them and both scored twice each.

9) Borussia Dortmund have failed to score in back-to-back games in all competitions for the first time since February 2025.

10) Borussia Dortmund have failed to win in three consecutive games in all competitions for the first time since February 2026.
