Borussia Dortmund visit Union Berlin in the Bundesliga on Saturday, just three days after their Norway trip in the Champions League which resulted in a 1-0 loss to Bodo/Glimt.
Having also blown a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with Werder Bremen the previous weekend, the BVB are winless after returning from the international break.
After what seemed like a fairytale run of six consecutive wins between August and September, Dortmund's title credentials are under the scanner once more.
As for Berlin, it's been a tough start to the season for them, going their first four matches without a loss before beating Elversberg in their last outing to finally cut themselves some slack.
However, it will be seen if it's the start of a turnaround in fortunes, or just a false dawn.
Ahead of their clash with Union Berlin, here's how the Prussians stack up against them from their last five meetings:
Union Berlin 0-2 Borussia Dortmund (March 2024, Bundesliga)
Coming off the back of two winless games, including a 3-2 home loss to Hoffenheim in their last outing, Dortmund came to Berlin in somewhat wobbly shape, but had no issues dispatching the Iron ones here with Karim Adeyemi breaking the deadlock in the 41st minute before Ian Maatsen added a second at the stroke of 90.
Union Berlin 2-1 Borussia Dortmund (October 2024, Bundesliga)
Dortmund's next visit to Berlin produced a very different outcome. They were struggling on the road at the start of the 2024-25 season and it continued in Berlin with a 2-1 loss. Kevin Vogt put the home in front from the penalty spot before Yorbe Vertessen doubled their advantage. Julian Ryerson pulled one back for the BVB shortly after the hour mark, but they fell short of finding an equalizer and failed to win their third away game in a row.
Borussia Dortmund 6-0 Union Berlin (February 2025, Bundesliga)
Serhou Guirassy was on fire after signing from VfB Stuttgart in the 2024-25 season, but this is the match where he genuinely peaked. The Guinean ace scored four on the day, taking Berlin to cleaners with the finest display of his career.
Borussia Dortmund 3-0 Union Berlin (August 2025, Bundesliga)
Six months later, Guirassy came back to haunt Berlin when they returned to Dortmund, this time scoring a brace while Felix Nmecha got on target too.
Union Berlin 0-3 Borussia Dortmund (January 2026, Bundesliga)
Guirassy's reign of terror ended here, but Emre Can, Nico Schlotterbeck and Maximilian Beier stepped up to seal another comprehensive 3-0 win for the BVB, their third win in a row.
