"Useless club" - Fans lash out at Dortmund after losing 1-0 to Bodo/Glimt in Champions League

Borussia Dortmund's sluggish run post the international break continued with a 1-0 loss to Bodo/Glimt in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Fredrik Sjovold struck the only goal of the game in the 52nd minute as the BVB looked underwhelming in attack once more.

Head coach Niko Kovac made a few surprise changes to his lineup, including dropping star striker Serhou Guirassy to the bench in favor of Fabio Silva whilst also naming other first-teamers such as Felix Nmecha and Marcel Sabitzer among the substitutes. Nico Schlotterbeck was rested from the clash too.

Dortmund were visibly lacking in the bite, getting forced back into their own area right from the off as Bodo came flying out of the blocks. After some near misses in the opening half, the Norwegian side finally had the breakthrough after the break when Sjovold rounded a lovely team-move from close-range off a cutback from Sondre Auklend.

The Prussians were second best for much of the game, and were paid to pay for a lackluster displat at both ends of the pitch, leaving their fans completely incensed. Many of them took to X to make their frustrations clear. Here are some of the reactions:

One X user questioned Kovac's team selection:

"Sons of Bastards! You work for the bookies..why rest players for a UCL game???"

Another user wrote:

"Absolute joke of a team now. Pathetic"

One Bayern fan took the opportunity to mock the BVB supporters with their own commanding result against Bodo last month:

"We would never want to be like you; you would give anything to be like us

That’s the difference between your team and mine"

This fan was also perplexed with Kovac's tactical tweaks:

"If your useless team was not paid to lose,why did you start 2 18yrs old children against Bodo?!

How can you underrate your opponent to the point of playing 2 18yrs old children against a team like Bodo at home?!

Very useless club."

One fan regretted betting on Dortmund for the win:

"Why did I bet on you mother fuckers? 😢"

Another user lashed out at the club's 'dumb' approach:

"Resting players for a champions league team when you are the weaker team is insane

Dumb fucking club

You will keep getting dumb results with your dumb mentality."

One X user tweeted:

"What the fuck is kovac even doing. What a joke of a team"

And finally, this user questioned the side's league winning capability after the abject display last night:

"Pathetic…and this is the team that thinks it can win the Bundesliga? The minnows cut the legs out from beneath the German soccer giant. Shame."
