Borussia Dortmund star Julian Ryerson had a breakout campaign. The Norwegian ace demonstrated his frightening creative abilities that proved vital in scoring goals while establishing himself among the best assist-makers in Euriope's top five leagues.
In 31 league games, Ryerson made 15 assists. That's a remarkable feat for any player, let alone a wing-back. Niko Kovac can take some credit for unlocking his potential by playing him in a slightly more advanced role on the left which gave him the license to roam forward and join attacks.
But his best moments came from set-pieces. Ryerson was a top provider in that sense, laying a series of accurate free-kicks or passes for someone to head home as Dortmund became a lethal side from such situations because of him.
Even on the final Bundesliga matchday, the 28-year-old made a spectacular delivery from a dead ball for Serhou Guirassy to head in, en route to beating Werder Bremen 2-0 as Ryerson closed out the season with yet another assist.
His tally of 15 in a single league campaign is the highest since Jadon Sancho managed 16 in 2018-19. But where does that put Julian Ryerson among the top assist-makers of the Bundesliga this season? Let's find out:
Union Berlin's Andrej Ilcic repaid the club's faith in him of making his loan move permanent by turning into a key provider. The Serbian made 10 assists in the Bundesliga.
Two ahead of him is Bazoumana Toure, the rising star of Ivory Coast. In his first full season with Hoffenheim, the 20-year-old youngster assisted 12 goals to help the side finish fifth on the table.
At third is our very own Julian Ryerson with 15 assists for the 2025-26 Bundesliga campaign. It's his career-best record to date while also assisting four times in a single game against Mainz.
Serhou Guirassy was his biggest beneficiary with five goals coming off of Ryerson's assists as their attacking partnership proved to be one the deadliest in the Bundesliga.
Bayern Munich's Luis Diaz made 17 assists for the champions in addition to score 15 goals as the Colombian was easily one of the best signings of the season.
Bundesliga's best assist-maker title goes to Michael Olise, another Bayern star who was in the form of his life. Incredibly, he made 30 assists in all competitions, including 21 in the German top-flight. He equaled Thomas Muller's all-time record for most assists provided in a single Bundesliga campaign while also chipping in with 15 goals.
Here's how the players stack up:
Player | Team | Assists |
|---|---|---|
Michael Olise | Bayern Munich | 21 |
Luis Diaz | Bayern Munich | 17 |
Julian Ryerson | Borussia Dortmund | 15 |
Bazoumana Toure | Hoffenheim | 12 |
