Borussia Dortmund starlet Mathis Albert is having a spell to remember with the USMNT. On Saturday, he made his debut for them by coming off the bench against Peru. On Tuesday, he struck his first goal for the Stars and Stripes that set a huge record.

At 17 years and 131 days, Albert surpassed the previous record by former BVB ace Christian Pulisic to become their youngest ever scorer. The versatile attacker latched onto a cut-back from Auston Trusty off a free-kick and struck the underside of the bar before the ball bounced off inside the area.

Although there's no VAR to review the moment, replays showed the ball indeed crossed the line and the referee also had a good view of it, allowing it to stand almost immediately after Albert scored it, as the USMNT prevailed 4-2 over Chile in Missouri.

In his first cap with the national team, Albert had won a penalty for USA within minutes after getting substituted into their friendly with Peru. Here, the young gun was making a big statement with his prolific dribbling ability and a willingness to shoot before he was finally rewarded for his persistence.
