Borussia Dortmund went down 2-1 to Bayern Munich in the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup on Saturday, as Fabio Silva's second-half effort couldn't inspire a comeback.

Nathaniel Brown and Michael Olise scored a goal apiece to hand the Bavarians a comfortable lead at the break, though the match was marred by missed opportunities at both ends.

Ramy Bensebaini even got sent off for Dortmund in the 90th minute as Niko Kovac's wait for a first trophy with the club continued.

Here are the key winners and losers from the clash:

Winner: Gregor Kobel

What could Borussia Dortmund do without Gregor Kobel? The Swiss custodian activated his inner Iker Casillas and made a series of jaw-dropping stops that prevented Bayern Munich from bagging more than two goals.

In fact, he finished with a staggering eight saves in the cup, including a crucial diving save to deny Brown minutes after his opener and smothering Olise's chance in stoppage-time. Individual defensive errors ultimately cost them the game but without Kobel, it may have ended in a rout.

Loser: Ramy Bensebaini

Of all players, Ramy Bensebaini was least expected to come away with a disaster. The Algerian international, who starred for his national team at the World Cup this year, was directly at fault for Bayern's first goal and then left them to play the stoppage-time period with a man less.

In an attempt to pluck the ball away from Olise inside the box, Bensebaini cleared it straight to Brown and the Bayern debutant took a touch before slotting it home for 1-0. Then as normal time approached its end, the centre-back was shown a straight red for running his studs into Ismael Saibari's shin.

Winner: Fabio Silva

Despite a strong preseason campaign under his belt, Niko Kovac stuck with his preferred striker Serhou Guirassy upfront. While the Guinean ace had a stinker, Silva came off the bench in the second half to regurgitate the side offensively and even pull a goal back.

Giannis Konstantelias beautifully played Daniel Svensson inside the box and the Swede found Silva, following which the latter coolly slotted it home to reduce the deficit. The archer, who hadn't scored until October in his debut campaign last year, is off the mark in their first match of the new season. A sign of things to come? Perhaps.

Loser: Serhou Guirassy

Speaking of Guirassy, the Guinean ace was a complete no-show here. In fact, he couldn't even muster a shot in the match throughout 63 minutes of action before getting replaced, while laying just six accurate passes, which tells you how isolated Bayern had rendered him.

His only notable moment was being picked out by Konstantelias inside the box in the 52nd minute while being completely unmarked, but the cross didn't quite come across. Guirassy stretched himself out to connect with it, but to no avail.

Winner: Giannis Konstantelias

What a debut from the young Greek! He came off the bench in the second half and injected some much-needed dynamism into Dortmund's plays with his direct runs, uncanny dribbles and eye for pass.

He created the chance for Guirassy in the second half, and played a vital role in Silva's goal too, bombing down the left half-space before cutting inside to draw Bayern players towards him and pick out Svensson with a delightful ball.

Full of breathtaking flair and flamboyance, Konstantelias looked right at home on his BVB debut, demonstrating encouraging tactical intelligence, burst of space and passing range. Watch out for him, the 23-year-old lad could light up Germany this season.
