Borussia Dortmund salvaged a 2-2 draw against RB Leipzig on Saturday as Fabio Silva struck in stoppage-time to keep their unbeaten run intact.

The Red Bulls, who've beaten the BVB four times from their last six games, went 2-0 up in the first half courtesy of a brace from Christoph Baumgartner.

It was turning out to be a deja vu for the visitors as another defeat beckoned, but an own goal by Romulo Cardoso in the 50th minute offered a silver lining.

Dortmund continued to huff and puff in search of an equalizer and it came through substitute Fabio Silva, who netted in the fifth added minute to make it 2-2.

With Bayern Munich winning their game to Eintracht Frankfurt earlier in the day, the gap between them and Dortmund has widened to eight points, with Der Klassiker rivals set to clash next weekend.

1) Bogey team strikes again

Sure, Borussia Dortmund avoided a loss. But it wasn't a win either. In a title race that had gotten close in recent weeks, the draw feels liks a loss, nonetheless, despite the late, late equalizer.

For the sixth game in a row, Dortmund failed to win away to Leipzig at the Red Bull Arena, making it one of their worst runs against a side in their recent Bundesliga history.

With just one win in the fixture from the last seven meetings, it's safe to say that BVB would be sick at the sight of Leipzig by now.

2) Dortmund exercise set-piece prowess again

While it was an own goal, it came through a corner nonetheless, adding to Dortmund's recent spell of scoring from set-pieces.

Assist-king Julian Ryerson stood over it once again and unleashed a pile driver that flew into a stream of shirts as Cardoso inadvertently headed it into his own net.

That's now seven goals from set-pieces in just the last four games for Dortmund, remarkable!

3) Silva steps up to the plate

Fabio Silva came off the bench and struck the second goal which rescued a point for Dortmund, repaying Niko Kovac's faith in him.

In recent days, he once again lost his place in the XI to a resurgent Serhou Guirassy, who came into the fixture on the back of six goals from their last four games in all competitions.

But at the Red Bull Arena, the Guinean international had a stinker, struggling to break down Leipzig's defense and drawing a blank on the night before going off.

Silva then took the mantle upon himself and converted a pass from Karim Adeyemi from a tight angle beyond the despairing dive of Maarten Vandevoordt for 2-2.
