Chelsea have reportedly joined the race to sign Erling Haaland, with reports claiming that they are willing to break their transfer record for the Borussia Dortmund striker’s signature.
Just one year on from his Borussia Dortmund debut, Erling Haaland is already being linked with a move away from the club. Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Manchester City and Manchester United are all said to be interested in signing the 20 year old. And now Chelsea have reportedly joined the hunt for his signature.
According to the Athletic, Chelsea will make a big push to sign Haaland in the summer. The English Premier League giants are ready to spend big money to acquire Haaland, and they are even willing to break their transfer record to bring him to the club. The report adds that Borussia Dortmund are reluctant to sell Haaland this summer, and will demand significantly more money to even consider parting ways with him.
The rumour comes just days after BILD claimed that Erling Haaland will stay with Borussia Dortmund next season. The Norwegian international is happy at the club and is not thinking about leaving this summer, the tabloid reported.
Haaland has a release clause in his contract, which comes into effect at the end of next season. The Athletic claim that the clause can be activated for 75 million euros in 2022.
Haaland has enjoyed an incredible first half of the season, scoring 19 goals in just 17 appearances across all competitions. He has three and a half years remaining on his Borussia Dortmund contract, and recently spoke about his desire to help the club win trophies.
