Borussia Dortmund have been linked with a move for Wolfsburg centre-back Maxence Lacroix in recent weeks. France Football now claim that the highly rated defender is a transfer target for the Black and Yellows, and Wolfsburg would be open to selling him in the summer for a fee in the region of 30 million euros.

The report adds that Lacroix would also be open to a move to Borussia Dortmund, and the chances of him leaving Wolfsburg would increase further if head coach Oliver Glasner does not stay at the club beyond the end of the season.

Lacroix only moved to Wolfsburg from French side Sochaux last summer, but has been one of this season’s breakout stars in the Bundesliga. No team in the Bundesliga has conceded fewer goals this season than Wolfsburg, and Lacroix’s performances have been vital to their success so far. The 20 year old has made a total of 28 appearances for Wolfsburg so far this season, and also has two goals to his name.

It remains to be seen if Borussia Dortmund will be able to meet Wolfsburg’s asking price for Lacroix, who still has more than three years left on his contract. But it is very likely that they will look to bolster their defence this summer.

Mats Hummels, Manuel Akanji and Dan-Axel Zagadou are the only three natural centre-backs in the Dortmund ranks at the moment, while Leonardo Balerdi is on loan at Marseille. Dortmund are also on the verge of completing the signing of highly rated Paris St. Germain centre-back Soumaila Coulibaly.
