Borussia Dortmund are reportedly interested in signing goalkeeper Alexander Nübel, and are keeping a close eye on his situation at Bayern Munich.

Alexander Nübel is behind Manuel Neuer in the pecking order at Bayern Munich, and has been limited to just three appearances this season. According to Sport1, Borussia Dortmund have been following the development of the highly rated goalkeeper for quite some time. And while they have not made contact with Nübel’s agent in recent weeks, the 24 year old is on their target list for a new goalkeeper.

The report adds that RB Leipzig goalkeeper Péter Gulácsi is Borussia Dortmund’s preferred candidate. However, his salary demands could prove to be a sticking point in any potential deal. Gulácsi has a release clause in his contract, and would cost around 12 million euros this summer.

In addition to Nübel and Gulácsi, Borussia Dortmund are also said to be considering Stuttgart’s Gregor Kobel and Wolfsburg’s Koen Casteels. Both goalkeepers would likely be available for a low double-digit million amount this summer.

Sport1 also add that Borussia Dortmund’s goalkeeper search is in full swing, and a new number one could arrive in the summer. This comes just one week after Ruhr Nachrichten reported that Roman Bürki is expected to stay and compete for the number one role with Marwin Hitz next season. The newspaper claimed that the BVB bosses are only exploring the transfer market as a precautionary measure at the moment.
