Borussia Dortmund are, in principle, interested in extending the contract of Mahmoud Dahoud, and the midfielder is also keen on an extension. This is being reported by Sport1, who add that contract talks with the German international have not taken place yet. The report has been confirmed by BILD, who add that contract talks are expected to take place soon.

Mahmoud Dahoud has been one of Borussia Dortmund’s most consistent performers since the turn of the year. He has gone from being a fringe player to one of the first names on the team-sheet in the space of just a few months.

The 25 year old was limited to just eight appearances in the first half of the season, and was linked with a move away from Borussia Dortmund during the January transfer window. But he has turned things around since and has become a pivotal player in midfield, featuring in each of the Black and Yellows’ last 19 games.

Dahoud continued his impressive run of form on Saturday by putting in a strong performance in the six-pointer against Wolfsburg. Not only did he dominate the midfield battle, but he also set-up Erling Haaland’s second goal by winning the ball back on the edge of the Dortmund box and playing the striker through on goal. Head coach Edin Terzic heaped praise on Dahoud after the game.

"“Mo was outstanding today,” Terzic said. “He has great skills on the ball. But also the way he worked without the ball and put the opponent under pressure so that Wolfsburg couldn’t cross from the half-field, that was key to the three points.”"

Mahmoud Dahoud, who joined Borussia Dortmund from Borussia Mönchengladbach in 2017, has just over one year left on his current contract. And if he keeps performing like he has done in recent weeks, it will only be a matter of time before he gets a contract extension.
