Arsenal retain an interest in signing Julian Brandt this summer. This is being reported by Kicker, who add that the economic conditions would have to be right for Borussia Dortmund to consider selling him.

Julian Brandt has been limited to a bit-part role at Borussia Dortmund this season. He has made a total of 44 appearances across all competitions, but has spent just 1885 minutes on the pitch. The playmaker has four goals and two assists to his name this season.

With the competition for places so high at Borussia Dortmund, Kicker wonder whether Brandt will be able to force his way into the starting XI under Marco Rose next season. They add that an alternative could be a move away from the club, with Arsenal holding a persistent interest in his signature.

Arsenal were reportedly interested in signing Brandt during the January transfer window as well. But Borussia Dortmund did not want to part ways with the midfielder in the middle of the season.

Brandt has more than three years left on his Borussia Dortmund contract, so the BVB bosses certainly will not let him go for cheap. The Black and Yellows paid a fee in the region of 25 million euros to sign Brandt from Bayer Leverkusen in 2019.

While this season has largely been a forgettable one for Brandt, he has shown glimpses of his quality in his last two appearances in the Bundesliga. The 25 year old helped set up Jadon Sancho’s winner against RB Leipzig two weeks ago, and followed that up by scoring against Mainz 05 last weekend.
