Jadon Sancho and Jude Bellingham named in provisional England squad for the Euros
Borussia Dortmund duo Jadon Sancho and Jude Bellingham have been named in England’s provisional 33-man squad for this summer’s European Championships.
Jude Bellingham has been rewarded for his excellent performances in the heart of the Borussia Dortmund midfield this season. The 17 year old has been a regular starter for the Black and Yellows since his summer move for Birmingham City. He has made 46 appearances this season, scoring four goals and providing four assists.
Bellingham made his senior England debut in November, when he became the third youngest player to ever play for the Three Lions. He made his competitive England debut in March, and earned praise from head coach Gareth Southgate after the game.
Joining Bellingham in the England squad will be Jadon Sancho, who has been in stellar form since the turn of the year. The 21 year old ended the season 16 goals and 21 assists in 38 appearances for Borussia Dortmund. He has won 18 caps for England.
Both Sancho and Bellingham played a crucial role in helping Borussia Dortmund win the DFB-Pokal and qualify for the UEFA Champions League this season. They will now be hoping to make the final 26-man England squad for the Euros, which will be announced on Tuesday, 1 June.
England will go up against Croatia, Scotland and Czech Republic in the group stage of the Euros. Gareth Southgate’s side will begin their campaign against 2018 World Cup finalists Croatia on June 13, before taking on Scotland five days later. They will then face the Czech Republic in their final group game on June 22.
