Jadon Sancho has thanked Borussia Dortmund for giving him his breakthrough and helping him mature into the player he is today after sealing his move to Manchester United.

The Jadon Sancho saga is finally over. The England international has completed his move to the Premier League, joining Manchester United on a five year contract. And Borussia Dortmund receive a fee of 85 million euros plus bonuses for the transfer.

With his move to Manchester United now confirmed, Sancho has thanked the Borussia Dortmund bosses and fans. The 21 year old said:

"“I can’t thank the people in charge at Borussia Dortmund enough for the opportunity they gave me as a very young player. At BVB, I was able to mature into the player I am today. Winning the DFB Cup last season was the crowning moment of my time at BVB. But also the support and love of the incredible fans will always remain special in my memory.”"

Sancho also left a heartfelt message to Borussia Dortmund supporters on Instagram. “Dortmund will always be a part of me and I will always miss, love and be grateful to the club, the team and especially the supporters who supported me through thick and thin,” he said.

Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc also paid tribute to Sancho, and wished him the very best for his future career.

"“Jadon Sancho has made great progress in his 4 years with us, particularly towards the end of last season when he contributed to the team’s success with important goals and assists. We thank him for his commitment and wish him the best for his future career.”"

Sancho leaves Borussia Dortmund on the back of a memorable four year stay with the club. He made the switch to Germany from Manchester City aged just 17 in 2017, and developed into one of the best young wingers in the world with BVB.

Sancho scored a total of 50 goals and provided 64 assists in just 137 appearances across all competitions, and helped the Black and Yellows win the DFB-Pokal last season. He will no doubt be fondly remembered by BVB supporters for years to come.

Borussia Dortmund are on the verge of completing the signing of Sancho’s successor. PSV Eindhoven forward Donyell Malen has always been the club’s top target to replace Sancho. And he is now set to join in the coming days, with an agreement between the two clubs imminent. Reports claim that the Netherlands international will sign a five year contract with BVB.
