A number of players, and sporting director Michael Zorc, are set to bid farewell to Borussia Dortmund this weekend ahead of their summer exits.

The curtain is set to come down on Borussia Dortmund’s season this weekend as they host Hertha Berlin. BVB have already secured a second place finish in the Bundesliga standings, so there isn’t much left for them to play for on the final day of the season.

But Saturday will be an emotional day at the Westfalenstadion, with club legend Michael Zorc among those who will bid farewell to the club.

Michael Zorc has been at Borussia Dortmund since 1978. And the BVB record goalscorer and sporting director is set to retire this summer, ending his 44 year long stay with the club. Zorc has been with the Black and Yellows through thick and thin, and he will no doubt receive a special ovation this weekend.

Marcel Schmelzer is also set to leave Borussia Dortmund this summer. Much like Zorc, Schmelzer has spent his entire professional career at BVB. And it will be interesting to see what the future holds for him.

Axel Witsel will also leave Borussia Dortmund this summer, with his contract set to expire at the end of the season. The Belgian international moved to Dortmund in 2018 and has been one of the team’s most-used players over the last four years.

Roman Bürki is set to join MLS side St. Louis City SC in the summer. The goalkeeper has been at Borussia Dortmund since 2015, and he said last month that he hopes to get a few minutes on the pitch in the final game of the season.

Erling Haaland will also play the final game of his Borussia Dortmund career on Saturday. The 21 year old, who has scored 85 goals in 88 appearances for BVB, is set to join Manchester City in the summer.

Dan-Axel Zagadou is also set for his Borussia Dortmund farewell this weekend. Sebastian Kehl has revealed that his contract will not be extended beyond the end of the season. And goalkeeper Marwin Hitz has also announced that he will be leaving BVB this summer.
