Immanuel Pherai has rejected Borussia Dortmund’s offer to extend his contract and will leave the club this summer.

Immanuel Pherai’s contract with Borussia Dortmund is set to expire at the end of the month, and it looks like the attacking midfielder will be leaving the club.

BVB U-23s team manager Ingo Preuß has told Ruhr Nachrichten that Pherai has rejected their offer to extend his contract, and he will be playing for a new club next season. It remains to be seen what the future holds for the 21 year old. He was recently linked with a move to Eintracht Braunschweig.

Pherai, who joined Borussia Dortmund from AZ Alkmaar in 2017, made his first-team debut on the penultimate matchday of the recently concluded season. He spent the majority of the season playing for the BVB U-23s in the 3. Liga, and managed six goals and seven assists in 32 appearances.

Borussia Dortmund were hoping to extend Pherai’s contract, but it looks like he will now be leaving the club. His impending departure is another blow for BVB II, who have already lost a number of key players, as well as head coach Enrico Maaßen this summer. Berkan Taz, who was the U-23s’ top scorer this season, also completed a move to Waldhof Mannheim earlier this week.

Borussia Dortmund II have already signed eight players this summer, and more new signings are likely to be made in the coming weeks.
