Lazio sporting director Igli Tare denies interest in Nico Schulz
Lazio sporting director Igli Tare has denied claims that the Italian side are interested in signing out of favour Borussia Dortmund left-back Nico Schulz.
Borussia Dortmund are keen to sell Nico Schulz this summer, and the player is also open to a move away from the club. Reports in Italy claimed last month that Italian side Lazio have the left-back on their list of targets. But Lazio sporting director Igli Tare has now poured cold water on the rumours.
"“Nico Schulz is not on my wish list. We have never had any talks with each other,” Igli Tare told Sport1."
Schulz joined Borussia Dortmund from TSG Hoffenheim in 2019 for a fee in the region of 25 million euros, but he hasn’t been able to live up to the price tag so far. Injuries and poor form have prevented him from making an impact, and the BVB bosses are looking to part ways with him this summer.
Roger Wittmann, who is Nico Schulz’ agent, said last month that his client is looking for a new sporting challenge. But he added that the 29 year old will not leave Borussia Dortmund just for the sake of a move away from the club. Schulz still has two years left on his BVB contract.
Borussia Dortmund are interested in signing TSG Hoffenheim left-back David Raum this summer. But in order to do that, they must first sell both Nico Schulz and Raphael Guerreiro.
So far, there haven’t been any concrete offers for the two left-backs. And it remains to be seen if Borussia Dortmund will be able to find any buyers for the duo before the transfer window closes.
