Nico Schlotterbeck will return to his former club on Friday as Borussia Dortmund go up against SC Freiburg on Matchday two of the Bundesliga season.

Borussia Dortmund make the trip to SC Freiburg on Friday evening for what should be another exciting Bundesliga contest. BVB slipped up in this fixture last season, suffering a 2-1 defeat. And they will be determined to make sure that they get the three points this time around.

The Black and Yellows began their Bundesliga campaign with a 1-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday. But beating Freiburg certainly won’t be an easy task, as Christian Streich’s side are still on a high after surpassing all expectations last season.

Freiburg cruised to a 4-0 win over FC Augsburg last weekend, and they will want to build on their impressive start to the season by beating Borussia Dortmund on Friday evening.

The game will see Nico Schlotterbeck make his return to his former club following his summer move to Borussia Dortmund. But fellow German international Niklas Süle remains sidelined with a thigh injury. Anthony Modeste is set to make his BVB debut after completing his move from FC Köln on Monday.

Salih Özcan could also make his BVB debut after recovering from his injury, but the game comes too early for the injured Karim Adeyemi.

SC Freiburg will be without forwards Lucas Höler and Kevin Schade on Friday, but they have no shortage of quality in their attack. Summer signing Ritsu Doan has hit the ground running, scoring in both of Freiburg’s games so far. Matthias Ginter will also be keen to make a strong impression against his former club.
