The Borussia Dortmund players underwent performance diagnostic tests on Monday to step up their preparations for the second half of the season.
The 2022/23 Bundesliga season is set to resume in less than three weeks’ time, and the Borussia Dortmund players kick-started their preparations on Monday morning. First-team players returned to the club’s training ground to undergo performance diagnostic tests. Edin Terzic will take charge of the first training session of 2023 on Wednesday.
According to Ruhr Nachrichten, Marco Reus has fully recovered from his ankle injury and is set to return to team training soon. The BVB captain missed the FIFA World Cup as a result of his injury. But it appears that he will be available for the start of the second half of the season.
Sebastien Haller is also set to undergo initial tests in the coming days. The striker is on the road to recovery after being diagnosed with testicular cancer last year. Based on the data from the tests, Borussia Dortmund will draw up plans for his rehab and reintegration into team training. Haller is also set to travel to Spain with the rest of the team this week for their training camp.
Ruhr Nachrichten add that Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, Mahmoud Dahoud, Marius Wolf, Anthony Modeste and Tom Rothe have also recovered from their respective injuries and are set to return to team training.
The Borussia Dortmund first-team players are set to travel to Marbella on Friday for a warm weather training camp. The Black and Yellows will play two friendly matches (against Fortuna Düsseldorf and FC Basel) before taking on FC Augsburg in their first Bundesliga game of 2023 on January 22.
