Report: Barcelona still interested in signing Thomas Meunier
FC Barcelona could renew their interest in signing Thomas Meunier, who could leave Borussia Dortmund in the summer.
Thomas Meunier is facing an uncertain future at Borussia Dortmund. And FC Barcelona could offer him a move away from the club. According to Mundo Deportivo, the Spanish giants have Meunier on top of their list of potential targets for the right-back role.
Barcelona have retained an interest in Meunier for more than 12 months now. The right-back almost sealed a move to Spain in January 2022, only for Borussia Dortmund to reject Barcelona’s offer. But it looks increasingly likely that the 31 year old will leave BVB in the summer.
Mundo Deportivo add that Meunier also has offers from clubs in the Italian Serie A. But his preference would be to move to FC Barcelona. Diogo Dalot and Juan Foyth are said to be the other names on their list of targets, but potential moves for the duo could prove to be very complicated.
Meunier has lost his spot in the Borussia Dortmund starting XI, with Edin Terzic preferring to use Marius Wolf and Julian Ryerson at right-back. The Belgian international has less than 18 months left on his current contract with BVB.
Thomas Meunier, who joined Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer from Paris St. Germain in 2020, has been limited to just 15 appearances across all competitions this season. His last start for the Black and Yellows came back in October, before a string of injuries and inconsistent performances saw him lose his spot in the starting XI.
