Borussia Dortmund may well have to make do without a number of key players this weekend, as they take on Schalke 04 in the Bundesliga.
A massive derby clash awaits Borussia Dortmund this weekend as they go up against Schalke 04 in the Bundesliga. The Black and Yellows are firmly in the Bundesliga title race this season. And they will be aiming to keep their title charge on track by beating their arch-rivals this weekend.
Borussia Dortmund have a number of personnel concerns going into the game. They will have to make do without Julian Brandt, Karim Adeyemi, Youssoufa Moukoko, Julien Duranville and Mateu Morey. There are also question marks over the availability of Marco Reus and Gregor Kobel.
Julian Ryerson is set to make his return to the starting XI after missing the trip to London due to suspension. Edin Terzic may be tempted to make a few changes to his side following Tuesday’s gruelling clash against Chelsea.
Schalke 04 are in fine form going into the game, and have given themselves an excellent platform in their bid to avoid relegation.
But the Royal Blues have a lengthy list of absentees ahead of the Revierderby. Dominick Drexler, Soichiro Kozuki, Sebastian Polter and Danny Latza are all sidelined with injuries, but Éder Álvarez Balanta is available to feature.
Marius Bülter and Rodrigo Zalazar are two of Schalke’s in-form players, and Borussia Dortmund will have to be wary of their quality in front of goal.
