Borussia Dortmund are reportedly ready to offer Raphael Guerreiro a new contract following his upturn in form since the turn of the year.

Raphael Guerreiro seems to be enjoying a stunning renaissance at Borussia Dortmund. The Portuguese international has found his form in recent weeks, and is now set to be rewarded with a contract extension. According to Ruhr Nachrichten, the BVB bosses will soon offer a new contract to Guerreiro with the aim of keeping him at the club for at least two more years.

For a long time, it looked like Raphael Guerreiro would leave Borussia Dortmund when his contract expires at the end of the season. The Black and Yellows are set to bring in Ramy Bensebaini on a free transfer from Borussia Mönchengladbach, and many view him as Guerreiro’s successor at left-back.

But the 29 year old has been making quite the case for a new contract in recent weeks. Guerreiro has scored two goals and assisted a further seven in his last five Bundesliga appearances. He has looked very lively since switching to a central midfield role against Schalke 04 earlier this month, and has brought some much needed dynamism to the middle of the park for Borussia Dortmund.

Raphael Guerreiro is attracting the interest of a number of clubs in Europe. But he said last year that his preference would be to stay at Borussia Dortmund beyond the end of his contract. And the hope will be that the two parties can agree to an extension in the coming weeks.
