Hansi Flick has given an update on Nico Schlotterbeck’s injury after the Borussia Dortmund defender was forced to drop out of the Germany squad due to a thigh issue.

Nico Schlotterbeck was subbed off during Germany’s clash against Peru on Saturday due to a thigh issue and it was revealed on Sunday that he will now miss their friendly match against Belgium on Tuesday. But it looks like the defender will be able to play for Borussia Dortmund against Bayern Munich this weekend.

During his press conference on Monday, Germany head coach Hansi Flick gave an update on Schlotterbeck’s status ahead of Saturday’s Der Klassiker. “We didn’t want to take any chances. As far as I know, he will be back on the pitch in two or three days,” Flick said.

Borussia Dortmund will certainly be hoping that Nico Schlotterbeck can feature in their top of the table clash against Bayern Munich on Saturday. The Germany international has been ever-present for the Black and Yellows this season, and has played a key role in their remarkable upturn in form since the turn of the year.

While Schlotterbeck should be able to play against Bayern on Saturday, Karim Adeyemi remains a major doubt. This is being reported by Sky Sport, who add that the forward has suffered a bit of a setback in his comeback bid.

With Adeyemi potentially missing and Youssoufa Moukoko and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens also sidelined at the moment, it will be interesting to see what forward line Edin Terzic decides to go with for the trip to Bayern Munich. The hope will be that Julian Brandt can recover from his injury in time to feature on Saturday.
