Sebastian Kehl has put cold water on reports claiming that Karim Adeyemi has suffered a setback in his bid to return to full fitness.
Borussia Dortmund are set to go up against rivals Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga this weekend. The game could have massive ramifications in the Black and Yellows’ bid to win the Bundesliga title this season. BVB have a number of personnel concerns ahead of Saturday’s top of the table clash, but things finally appear to be looking bright on the injury front.
In a media round on Tuesday, Kehl gave an update on the fitness of the likes of Gregor Kobel, Julian Brandt, Nico Schlotterbeck, and Youssoufa Moukoko.
"On Schlotterbeck: “I have a very good feeling that he will be able to recover fully by the weekend.”On Moukoko: “It’s not out of the question that he will be there on Saturday. He trained with great intensity last week, he’s happy to be back with the team. I think he will be in the squad as well.”"
The Borussia Dortmund sporting director also commented on reports claiming that Karim Adeyemi is in danger of missing the trip to Bayern Munich after suffering a setback on his road to recovery from the injury he suffered last month.
"“That is not the case. Karim has been fully participating in training and will take the next steps this week.”“We used the last week, of course, for individual training with the players, and also for group tactics. We will hopefully have a very large group in training at the end of the week and travel to Munich with a broad chest and a full squad.”"
Adeyemi was in excellent form before suffering his injury. And his potential return to the squad would be a big boost for the team ahead of the trip to Bayern Munich this weekend. The Germany international has scored six goals and assisted a further three in 24 appearances this season.
Meanwhile, a final diagnosis on Jamie Bynoe-Gittens’ injury is still not available. Sebastian Kehl said on Tuesday that they are still in the process of determining the next steps, with the highly rated winger currently sidelined after picking up a shoulder injury earlier this month.
