Edin Terzic hopes Gio Reyna and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens will be fit by the start of the season

Edin Terzic has said that Gio Reyna and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens are both on the right track, as they look to return to full fitness by the start of the season.

Borussia Dortmund have two main injury concerns going into the start of the season, with Gio Reyna and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens both sidelined at the moment. The highly rated youngsters are recovering from their injuries and have been forced to miss the start of pre-season. Edin Terzic gave an update on the duo’s fitness following BVB’s 2-1 win over RW Erfurt on Saturday.

"“Gio Reyna and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens are making good progress. We hope that they’ll be fit by the start of the season,” Terzic said, adding, “Niklas caught a stomach bug on Friday. Karim is still lagging behind. He trained in Dortmund. He should be able to play in the next test match.”"

Gio Reyna suffered a calf injury while playing for the United States in the CONCACAF Nations League final last month. It has been reported that the attacking midfielder could miss a large chunk of pre-season.

Jamie Bynoe-Gittens underwent surgery on his injured shoulder in May and was forced to miss the business end of last season.

In addition to the above mentioned quartet, Mateu Morey and Soumaïla Coulibaly also missed Borussia Dortmund’s trip to RW Erfurt. The club revealed that the two defenders are dealing with muscular problems. It remains to be seen how long they will be forced to spend on the sidelines.

Borussia Dortmund are set to travel to the United States on Monday on a pre-season tour. Further updates on the status of the injured players will likely be given in the coming days.
