Borussia Dortmund play away to Union Berlin at the Stadion An der Alten Forsterei for their clash in the Bundesliga on Saturday.

The BVB are aiming to pick themselves up from their draw against Werder Bremen in the competition last weekend and bag their fifth win of the campaign.

However, their confidence was dealt another blow during the midweek against Bodo/Glimt in the Champions League as the BVB succumbed to a 1-0 defeat, their first in eight.

The alarm bells haven't gone off yet, but it may if Dortmund slip up for a third time in a row tomorrow. However, these three stats give them hope:

1) Best win record against all Bundesliga sides

Of all the 17 rival teams in the Bundesliga right now, Dortmund have the best win ratio against Berlin, having beaten them 10 times from their 12 meetings in the Bundesliga. That's a win percentage of 71.4%!

In those 10 wins, the BVB have scored a staggering 34 goals, averaging over three per game against Berlin, another reflection of their fierce dominance in the fixture.

What's more, Dortmund have also won their last three consecutive games against Berlin, keeping a clean sheet in all of them: 6-0 in February 2025, 3-0 in August 2025 and 3-0 in January 2026.

However, it's also worth noting that all four of their defeats against Berlin were away from home: in August 2019 (3-1), December 2020 (2-1), October 2022 (2-0) and April 2024 (2-1).

2) Berlin are stuck in a rut

Union Berlin are having a torrid campaign, winning just once from their opening five games and losing three to languish down in 16th place of the Bundesliga standings with a meager four points.

Only Hoffenheim (3 points) and Borussia Monchengladbach (0 points) have fared worse statistically at this stage of the campaign.

However, it's worth noting that Berlin's only win of the Bundesliga season came in their last outing against promoted side Elversberg, beating them 1-0 at the Stadion An der Alten Forsterei through Livan Burcu's 81st-minute strike.

3) Serhou Guirassy loves scoring against Berlin

Union Berlin are one of Serhou Guirassy's favorite sides in the Bundesliga. In fact, he has only scored more against Wolfsburg (9 goals) than the Iron Ones (8 goals) in his prolific Bundesliga career.

His tally includes two during his Stuttgart days too, while the highlight of his exploits against the side remains the spectacular four-goal salvo in January 2025 of BVB's thumping 6-0 victory.

It's worth noting that Guirassy hasn't found the net for Dortmund in his last four appearances on the bounce. But what better occasion to end the drought than a game against one of his favorite victims?
