During the 2024/25 season, Borussia Dortmund sent five players out on six different loan moves. None of the players loaned out are doing exceptionally well, and most have been disappointing. One of them, Salih Ӧzcan, is already back at the club.

The Turkish midfielder spent six months at Wolfsburg before coming back to Dortmund for midfield depth after the Felix Nmecha injury. He was largely unable to impress while out on loan, earning only three starts and a total of 353 minutes, according to Fbref, and his Transfermarkt valuation has decreased from €10 to €7 million since the summer. Ӧzcan currently has only 153 minutes for BVB this term and will likely not play much more with Nmecha returning to fitness.

Dortmund should look to offload him if he doesn’t fit in next year's plans, as he will look for more playing time before the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
