Borussia Dortmund forward Fabio Silva could be heading for an exit from the club in January, despite having only joined the side this summer.

The 23-year-old, joining from Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers, hasn't really lived up to his expectations at the Signal Iduna Park so far.

He has made only eight appearances in the Bundesliga this season, most of which have been off the bench as Silva hasn't been able to nail down a starting berth yet.

A forward by trade, the Portuguese star's only goal for Dortmund in 15 games was against Copenhagen in a 4-2 Champions League victory in October. But he has three assists to his name in all competitions, too.

Silva arrived at Dortmund looking to turn his career around after a tumultuous few years at Wolves that saw him go on multiple loan spells, too. But his spell with the Bundesliga giants has been anti-climactic.

Far from getting his career back on track, Silva's form remains unimpressive. Besides a few promising displays, the forward hasn't really pulled up any trees yet and now, his future is in a limbo once again.

Fabio Silva edging closer to Dortmund exit

Fabio Silva is reportedly linked with a move away from Dortmund. According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, La Liga giants Real Betis are interested in pricing the Portuguese forward away to Seville.

Tavolieri reveals that Los Verdiblancos are moving forward in discussions to snap him up on a loan until the end of the season, with the option of buying him permanently also on the table.

Dortmund are said to be waiting for Silva to negotiate terms with Real Betis, who are competing in the UEFA Europa League and currently occupy sixth place in La Liga.

Silva is no stranger to playing in the Spanish top-flight, having spent one season on loan at Las Palmas for the 2024-25 season, during which he played 24 times in LaLiga and scored an admirable 10 goals, including one each against Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Unable to build on that momentum at Dortmund, he could be tempted to return to the Iberian peninsula with Betis under Manuel Pellegrini, who has a stellar record of developing young players at all his clubs.

Meanwhile, Dortmund manager Niko Kovac has handed the club's board a list of his transfer targets, which includes a new centre-back, a holding midfielder and another forward, with Serhou Guirassy looking unreliable lately.
