Borussia Dortmund cruised past Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga with a comprehensive 3-0 victory on Tuesday, and set a new clean sheet record too.

Nico Schlotterbeck, Marcel Sabitzer and Serhou Guirassy netted apiece for BVB as the side extended their unbeaten run in the competition to 10 games now.

Additionally, Der BVB kept a clean sheet again - the ninth of their Bundesliga season, including six at home. That's the highest they have achieved in the competition from the first eight home league matches of a season.

Dortmund registered a clean sheet in their opening two home games of the season against Union Berlin and VfL Wolfsburg, before RB Leipzig became the first side to breach the Signal Iduna Park fortress.

Following another clean sheet to FC Koln, Stuttgart gave them a serious run for their money in a 3-3 draw before a hat-trick of clean sheets against Hoffenheim, Borussia Monchengladbach and now Werder Bremen.

The Westfalonstadion has indeed been a tough place to play for most of the visiting sides in the Bundesliga as Dortmund remain unbeaten in eight, winning six. Only league leaders Bayern Munich have picked up more points on home turf this season in the Bundesliga, although the German champions have played a game more.

Indeed, Dortmund's only home loss this season in all competitions was against Bayer Leverkusen in the DFB-Pokal, as Ibrahim Maza's strike ousted Niko Kovac's side from the competition in the round of 16 on 2 December.

Their impressive record at home has been a key reason behind Dortmund's strong run in Bundesliga and the Champions League, although the side still has some way to go in order to truly challenge for the title in both tournaments.

Despite their impressive goal record though, Dortmund's goal-share in the Bundesliga is evenly divided: of the 32 goals they have scored in the competition so far, 16 have come at home and away each.

Serhou Guirassy and Maxmilian Beier have accounted for six goals among themselves, netting thrice each as the players have demonstrated a knack for being on target at the Signal Iduna Park games.

Borussia Dortmund will now be aiming to extend their clean sheet run at home in the Bundesliga when a regelation-battling St. Pauli come to town this weekend, although it's worth noting that the latter held Dortmund in a pulsating 3-3 stalemate on the opening day.
