Borussia Dortmund centre-back Luca Reggiani is being eyed by clubs from his home country of Italy as speculations over a possible transfer grow.

The 18-year-old teenage sensation has alerted Europe of his prodigious talents after breaking out with the Black and Yellow last season.

He made nine appearances in all competitions during the 2025-26 season and even became the youngest Italian to ever score in the Bundesliga with a goal against Augsburg in March.

According to German news outlet BILD (via Yahoo Sports), clubs from Italy are currently monitoring his situation and remain interested in a potential move this summer.

The report also states that Reggiani is open to returning to Italy although Dortmund would only consider a sale only in case of a right offer. He is currently valued at €10 million.

Who is Reggiani?

Born in Modena, Italy, Luca Reggiani began his youth career at Castelvetro Calcio in 2013 at the age of five before he moved on to Sassuolo three years later. Dortmund then signed him in 2024 when the defender was only 16 as Reggiani continued his development in their youth side and helped them win the under-17 league title too.

His growing influence on the youth teams didn't go unnoticed by Borussia Dortmund senior team manager Niko Kovac, who gave the Italian his senior debut in February this year by subbing him on during a the closing stages of their Bundesliga clash with Wolfsburg.

Reggiani's first start with Dortmund came just two games later against RB Leipzig while in their 2-0 win over Augsburg, he opened his goalscoring account too with a strike in the 59th minute that cemented him as the youngest scorer from Italy in Bundesliga's history.

He also played full 90 minutes on his UEFA Champions League debut against Atalanta in the knockout stage playoffs on 18 February, giving a good account of himself with a solid display to keep out Gli Orobici as Borussia Dortmund won the match 2-0.

Reggiani breaks into Italy's national team

His meteoric rise with Dortmund caught Italy's caretaker manager Silvio Baldini's attention as he summoned him for their June friendlies against Luxembourg and Greece. While Reggiani was an unused substitute in the first game, he came in the second half of their Greece friendly four days later but his international debut lasted just 13 minutes as Reggiani was sent off.

Should Reggiani be allowed to leave?

All things considered, Luca Reggiani is a serious talent with the potential to develop into a world-class prospect. However, given the fierce competition for places in Dortmund's squad, it's difficult to see him become a first-teamer next season too.

Waldemar Anton, Ramy Bensebaini and Nico Schlotterbeck are all ahead of him in the pecking order, while there's also Filippo Mane and new arrival Joane Gadou in the mix too. A move to Italy might give him some much-needed gametime and help the teenage sensation continue his progress.
