Borussia Dortmund continued their unbeaten start to the 2025-26 UEFA Champions League season with a convincing 4-2 win over Copenhagen on Tuesday.

Coming into the fixture on the back of a 2-1 loss to Bayern Munich at the weekend, Der BVB looked determined to pick themselves up and took only 20 minutes to go in front. Felix Nmecha netted a stunning goal from range after collecting the ball from Jobe Bellingham.

However, shortly after, Waldemar Anton made it 1-1 for Copenhagen as the Dortmund defender put the ball into his own net, and the sides went in at level at the break.

At the hour mark, Dortmund had another breakthrough after winning a penalty as Remi Bensebaini made no mistake and restored their advantage. Nmecha added a third in the 76th minute while Fabio Silva opened his account for the season in the dying embers.

Viktor Dadason pulled one back for Copenhagen in stoppage time, becoming the third youngest player to ever score in the Champions League, but it was too little too late as Dortmund had the game in the bag already.

Three games, two wins, seven points - a good start in Europe for Dortmund! Here are the talking points:

1) Nmecha loves scoring in the Champions League

Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha has netted just one goal in seven Bundesliga appearances this season, but boasts three goals from as many games in the Champions League, a competition he supposedly loves scoring in more.

Having netted in the pulsating 4-4 draw to Juventus on matchday one, the German netted twice more in Denmark last night as he returned to the starting XI here. And he wasted no time in announcing it, with Nmecha blasting one from range in the 20th minute.

He then came back to haunt the Lions once again after the break, this time scoring from an easier position to take his tally in the Champions League to three for the season, the most behind only Kylian Mbappe (5) and Harry Kane (4).

2) Dortmund's defensive frailties show up again after bizarre own goal

Borussia Dortmund has shown a dangerous propensity for defensive collapses. We saw that against Juventus, Bilbao too found an opening. Last night in Copenhagen, the BVB conceded twice more, one of which was a bizarre own goal involving three Dortmund players.

Leading 1-0 in the tie, Niko Kovac's side conceded a corner kick, which they initially cleared, but Youssoufa Moukoko got the ball back inside the area before shooting from around the penalty area, which was blocked by goalkeeper Gregor Kobel.

As the ball stayed in the box, Ramy Bensebaini's attempt to clear it came off the shin of Waldemar Anton and went into the back of the net as Copenhagen were level in the tie. Conceding another goal in stoppage time, it's now seven in three games - an early warning sign for Dortmund.

3) Dortmund are on a roll

While their defense hasn't always been solid, Die Borussen's offensive vanguard has been one of the best in the Champions League so far: they've scored exactly four goals in every game, making it 12 in total. So far, only defending champions PSG (13) have netted more.

Should they fix the screws at the back, the Bundesliga giants could be unstoppable. However, tougher tests are coming up against Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur, and Inter Milan. It will be interesting to see if Dortmund's blazing form can keep up against European heavyweights, too.
