Borussia Dortmund are currently in the process of revamping their squad following the disappointment of seeing a promising 2025-26 campaign end with a whimper.

The club has signed three young guns in Joane Gadou, Justin Lerma and Kaua Prates, while midfield ace Karim Adeyemi is set to join Barcelona.

Sporting manager Nils-Ole Book has revealed that Dortmund could still make two or three more signings before the summer transfer window shuts on 31 August.

Now according to latest reports, the club has their sights on another young prospect called Ibrahim Mbaye of PSG.

Dortmund 'called' to inquire about Mbaye

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed on his official X handle that Borussia Dortmund had called up European champions PSG to gather information on the 18-year-old forward.

The Bundesliga side is said to explore the possibility of signing him this summer although he's reportedly monitored by several Premier League clubs too.

They, too, could make their move for the Senegalese starlet if PSG become open to let him go in which case Dortmund would have competition on their hands for Mbaye's signature.

Mbaye has made meteoric rise since last year

Since 2025-26 season, Ibrahim Mbaye has grown in influence for both club and country. He made 24 appearances for PSG last season and struck thrice while assisting two more as head coach Luis Enrique had even praised his development in spite of getting limited gametime due to fierce competition for places in the squad.

His meteoric rise didn't go unnoticed by Senegal either, as Mbaye was called-up for their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations campaign where he scored against Sudan in the group stages before getting summoned for the World Cup too. The forward got on target once more, scoring against tournament giants France in their 3-1 group-stage loss.

Search for regular gametime could force Mbaye out

As said earlier, Mbaye played a bit-part role at PSG as the competition for places in their star-studded lineup is intense. Now with the Ligue 1 champions pursuing Maghnes Akliouche this summer, it seems unlikely that the Senegalese international's situation would change in terms of playing time next season too.

This could prompt the player to look for greener pastures elsewhere and Borussia Dortmund's splendid record of developing promising young guns might tempt Mbaye into a move to Signal Iduna Park where he's also likely to receive regular gametime now with Karim Adeyemi on the brink of joining FC Barcelona.
