Borussia Dortmund have set the release clause of striker Serhou Guirassy in the region of €35 million, not €50 million, according to a report from German tabloid BILD.
The Guinean star is expected to be put on sale this summer as the Black and Yellows are looking towards a squad overhaul following another trophyless campaign.
Guirassy has been an instrumental figure in their squad since joining from VfB Stuttgart in 2024 and despite a patchy form earlier on, he's been among the goals regularly in recent times.
However, that still may not be enough to keep him at the club as Dortmund aim to cut their losses by offloading quite a few players including Guirassy, whose sale could raise a hefty amount.
His release clause is set to come into effect from 1 July onwards when the transfer window officially opens up and despite his age - Guirassy is 30 - the striker would have no shortage of suitors given his attacking qualities.
Recently he has been linked with European clubs such as AC Milan and Tottenham Hotspur while a move to Saudi Arabia is supposedly on the cards too. But rather ironically, none of these clubs are reportedly among those able to activate his release clause.
The release clause can only be triggered only later this summer until which point Dortmund are free to negotiate a transfer fee with interested parties.
Following a barnstorming debut campaign for Dortmund that saw him score 38 goals from 50 games, Guirassy has netted another 18 this season from 39 appearances.
For the record, Guirassy isn't the only one on the chopping block. Karim Adeyemi could be on it too as the German international could also be on his way out of Signal Iduna Park this summer.
Besides, Julian Brandt is confirmed to leave Borussia Dortmund this summer as his contract expires in July and both parties mutually agreed not to extend it.
The German international had been at the club since 2019 after joining from Bayer Leverkusen and since established himself as a vital cog in their midfield.
Niklas Sule and Salih Ozcan are also confirmed to leave as the players will also see out their contracts. Sule has failed to live up to expectations after joining from Bayern Munich whereas Ozcan has spent a large part of the current season on the sidelines with injuries.
Winds of change set to blow at Signal Iduna Park this summer.
