Borussia Dortmund are set to lose a vital component of their midfield this summer as Julian Brandt is confirmed to leave following the end of his contract.

But it appears like the club isn't waiting until the season to get over before looking out for a replacement as one of their former stars is already being discussed to fill the void.

According to Sky Reporter Patrick Berger, Jadon Sancho has emerged as one of the possible reinforcements in midfield.

The player is no stranger to the club, having seen two spells with them before. In his first, Sancho truly carved a niche for himself as one of the best young creators in Europe with a keen eye for goal too.

However, the Englishman's stock declined dramatically following a big-money move to Manchester United in 2021. That prompted a loan move back to Dortmund in 2024 although Sancho couldn't hit the heights of yore as he bagged only two goals in 14 league appearances.

But now, the 25-year-old could be set for a third spell with the Black and Yellows next season as rumors suggest he could be on his way back to Signal Iduna Park.

Sancho's contract with United ends this summer and it hasn't been extended yet with the club looking skeptical after his series of disappointing performances.

Dortmund could pounce on the opportunity and rope him in again but at a reduced salary, although a BVB fan blog on X suggests there are a few critics within the club who veto the move.

It's understandable, given how much Sancho struggled to replicate his earlier heroics during the second term at the club, netting only thrice in 21 appearances.

Dortmund to give young guns a chance

Dortmund aren't only looking outwards for new players. Rumor has it that a few young guns from their academy could get a break into the first-team too.

Samuele Inacio and Mathis Albert have come up from the youth side this season, with Inacio making his senior debut last month and Albert getting a call up too although he's yet to make an official appearance for Dortmund.

Moreover, the club has already signed Ecuadorian youngster Justin Lerma, who will join the side from local side Independiente del Valle in June.

Two players from Red Bull Salzburg are reportedly being watched right now too with Sebastien Kehl eyeing Joane Gadou and Nikolaus Wurmbrand next season.
