Fighting back from two goals down, Borussia Dortmund beat Hoffenheim 3-2 in the Bundesliga on Saturday to make it two wins from two in the new league season.
Leon Avdullahu and Tim Lemperle had put the Die Kraichgauer 2-0 up in the match, but the BVB kicked on after the hour mark.
Serhou Guirassy triggered the comeback with a nonchalant chip over the goalkeeper before he teed up substitute Fabio Silva for 2-2.
Another supersub Ethan Nwaneri, making his first appearance for the club since joining from Arsenal on loan, forced an own goal from Albian Hajdari in the 86th minute that won it for the visitors.
It was far from Dortmund's best, with defensive lapses once again costing them earlier on, but the comeback was still incredible and deserving of plaudits.
Here's how fans reacted to the victory on X:
One X user praised the mentality that Kovac has developed in his team:
"Kovac has practically instilled a winning mentality in this team. You have to give him credit for that.
Nevertheless, no one knows how we’re going to win this game.
In terms of footballing quality, it’s truly pathetic.
That simply cannot and must not be the standard."

This fan was also dissatisfied with the performance but heaped praise on Guirassy:
"Great comeback and three important points after a typical shit game from the Kovac era. Just as typical that we end up winning it with a lucky last-minute goal.
It’s good to see Guirassy smiling again. The build-up to the second goal is world-class."

It’s good to see Guirassy smiling again. The build-up to the second goal is world-class.
The sentiment was echoed by this fan too:
"Yes!!! Crucial win against a strong opponent!!! 💪💪💪
Anton, Guirassy and Silva strong today...Jobe, Svensson and Ryersson very intense...Nwaneri with a decisive impact at the end!!
Otherwise no convincing performance, got a bit lucky today too"
Ja!!! Wichtiger Sieg bei starkem Gegner!!! 💪💪💪

Another fan who was unconvinced with the performance today:
"It’s insane that you guys are actually celebrating this shit.
It’s exactly the same garbage football as under Kovac—just aimlessly hoofing the ball forward. And of course, the obligatory Sabitzer appearance couldn't be left out—even though the goal is supposedly to play better football... 🤡"
— Vergil the Yamato (@KingofKattegat1) September 5, 2026
One X user had a rather cocky name for Kovac:
"The biggest fraud—no plan, no ideas, and that’s been the case since he arrived. He got a better squad but still can't deliver."

This fan left some big words for loanee Nwaneri:
"Totally undeserved—and I hope the wrong conclusions aren't drawn from this! Kovač remains the wrong coach.
Nwaneri is a baller, by the way! Give the guy time to settle in."

Another jubilant fan wrote:
"Hell of a fight. Jobe, Svensson, Silva, Guirassy, Ryerson, Joey—they all played so amazingly, wow. Any of them could be Man of the Match."
Geil gekämpft. Jobe, Svennson, Silva, Guirassy, Ryerson, Joey so geil gespielt wow. Alle könnten Motm sein.

And finally, some encouraging words from this X user too:
"What a spectacle—but in the end, it’s the victory that counts. Always forward, Borussia! 🖤🖤💛💛"
