Borussia Dortmund take on Augsburg in the Bundesliga on Saturday as Signal Iduna Park gears up for another enticing clash.

The BVB returned to winning ways after a tough spell of games in February with a 2-1 defeat of FC Koln last weekend that consolidated their position in second place behind leaders and holders Bayern Munich.

Meanwhile, Augsburg are down in ninth with just nine wins from 25 games, with three of those victories coming in their last five games alone which indicated a surge in form lately. But can the Bavarian side produce another stellar display in Dortmund?

Here's how the sides fared against each other in their last five encounters:

Augsburg 1-1 Dortmund (December 2023)

Dortmund came into the fixture languishing in fifth place of the Bundesliga standings with only seven wins from their opening 14 games of the 2023-24 campaign and having lost their previous game 3-2 at home to RB Leipzig.

But, they were still expected to prevail in Bavaria against a struggling Augsburg, who went in front through a goal from Ermedin Demirovic in the 23rd minute, although Donyell Malen equalized just over 10 minutes later.

Dortmund 5-1 Augsburg (May 2024)

In the return clash though, Dortmund turned on the heat and went hell for leather, banging in five against Augsburg to secure a decisive victory in their penultimate home game of the Bundesliga season.

The BVB came flying out of the blocks to race to a 3-0 lead inside the opening 20 minutes before Ruben Vargas pulled one back for the visitors to reduce the deficit. But minutes later, Marco Reus restored their three-goal advantage as Felix Nemcha applied the finishing touches in the second half.

Augsburg 2-1 Dortmund (October 2024)

This was a special season for Augsburg in their rivalry with Dortmund, securing a rare league double over them. In their first clash of the 2024-25 Bundesliga campaign, the Fuggerstadter came from behind to beat them 2-1 at home.

Malen came back to haunt them with an early opener, but a brace from Alexis Clause-Maurice, who struck once in either half, helped Augsburg turn the match around and inflict Dortmund with their third top-flight loss from their opening eight games.

Dortmund 0-1 Augsburg (March 2025)

At the Signal Iduna Park, Dortmund were expected to prevail after winning consecutively in the Bundesliga, but Augsburg were also eight games unbeaten at that point and achieved some remarkable.

They completed their first and only league double over Dortmund as Jeffrey Gouweleeuw's 23rd-minute strike earned them all three points with Dortmund looking uncharacteristically toothless in their own backyard.

Augsburg 0-1 Dortmund (November 2025)

After back-to-back losses, Dortmund thought it was payback time and went to Bavaria last November to snatch a narrow 1-0 victory. Serhou Guirassy did the damage by netting the only goal of the game in the 37th minute.

The Bavaria outfit were rather haphazard on the day, committing plenty of fouls and looking disjointed in their structure. Dortmund ultimately managed to weather all that and see the game off.
