Serhou Guirassy marked his 50th appearance in the Bundesliga for Borussia Dortmund with a late winner against Wolfsburg on Saturday.
Pouncing onto a pass from Fabio Silva, the Guinean international latched onto it clinically to slam one home beyond goalkeeper Kamil Grabara to make it 2-1 for the visitors.
That was his 30th strike in the German top-flight since joining the side in 2024, a good record in 50 appearances; an average of 0.60 goals per game. But...
How does he compare to other Dortmund strikers of recent times?
For starters, Robert Lewandowski had struck just 20 goals in his first 50 league appearances for Der BVB, although his goalscoring rate kept surging from thereon.
The Polish ace endured a slow start to life at the club, netting only eight goals in his first Bundesliga season with Dortmund but scored over 20 in each of his next three top-flight campaigns.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was another stellar hitman at the club, who famously made his league debut for Dortmund with a hat-trick against Augsburg in 2013.
However, the Gabonese international could only manage a further 15 goals from his next 49 appearances in the Bundesliga, bringing his tally to just 18 goals in 50 league games for Dortmund.
So far, so good for Guirassy. But there's one player who bettered his goal-tally in first 50 Bundesliga appearances for Dortmund - a certain Erling Haaland.
Signed in the middle of the 2019-20 season from Red Bull Salzburg, the Norwegian wasted no time in announcing himself to the Bundesliga, netting a sensational hat-trick in a 5-3 win over Augsburg.
There was no turning back for him thereafter, as Haaland struck 50 goals from his first 50 games in the Bundesliga for Dortmund, incredibly averaging a goal per game.
Guirassy getting back into form
Serhou Guirassy's league average could have been higher if it wasn't for his strange and unexpected loss of form after a strong start. But nonetheless, he appears to be getting back into his element now.
Over the last two league matches, the Guinean star has turned up with the winners, a brace against Heidenheim when Dortmund were 2-1 down, and one against Wolfsburg when the scores were level at 1-1.
For context, he's struck in consecutive top-flight games for the first time since netting thrice in a row at the start of the campaign back in August.
With Die Schwarzgelben now trailing leaders Bayern Munich by only six points, head coach Niko Kovac will be hoping that he continues firing at all cylinders as the title race heats up.
