Borussia Dortmund forward Fabio Silva has reaffirmed his commitment to his side after netting in their 4-0 drubbing of Freiburg on Sunday.

The Portuguese came off the bench in the second half and scored in the 87th minute to add gloss to their scoreline as Dortmund stormed back to winning ways.

Following his latest exploits, Silva expressed his delight at having struck one for the BVB while also comitting himself to helping the side whenever his intervention is needed.

"“Whether I’m in the starting line-up or not: whenever the manager wants me on the pitch, I try to help the team. I think everyone can see that I’m more than just a goalscorer. I think everyone can see from the way I play that I can help the team.""
said the 23-year-old forward

A series of passes led to Daniel Svensson coming into possession on the left, who laid it off for Silva. The forward then evaded challenges from three Freiburg players to turn around and slot one home into the bottom-right corner for 4-0.

It was just his second league goal of the season, having opened his account in the Bundesliga with a goal against RB Leipzig in a 2-2 draw last month.

Silva later revealed scoring for his team is the best feeling for a player as it demonstrated what he can bring to the team.

"Of course, as a striker, it’s important to score goals. I think it’s the best feeling when you score a goal. At certain moments this season, it was more important to set up goals. I’m very happy with my performance and what I can bring to the team.”"
added Silva, after the game

With Serhou Guirassy being the first choice striker, Silva hasn't been able to nail down a starting berth consistently, but has still managed to earn some gametime with his promising displays on the pitch.

He's struck only three goals but assisted seven in all competitions this season, which highlight his creative abilities.

Silva is also capable of playing as the lone striker upfront as well as operating from the wings, offering Kovac some much-needed tactical flexibility.

Signed from Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers last summer, Silva is growing into an attractive attacking prospect at Dortmund and could assume a bigger role at the club in the coming seasons.

He is under contract with the Black and Yellows until June 2030.
