Borussia Dortmund left it late against Wolfsburg in a 2-1 victory as Serhou Guirassy netted the winner with less then five minutes of normal time remaining.

Julian Brandt had fired Der BVB in front with a well-placed header from a corner by Julian Ryerson in the opening stanza which had their noses in front at the break.

Just only five minutes into the restart, Konstantinos Koulierakis restored parity for Die Wolfe as Dortmund lost their lead yet another time.

In the 87th minute though, Felix Nmecha had the Wolfsburg defense in the knots before passing to Fabio Silva, who then squared the ball to Guirassy for a superb finish.

Here are some interesting stats from the win:

Best league run of the season

With five wins in a row, Borussia Dortmund are currently on their best run in the Bundesliga. It's also the first time they have won five top-flight matches on the bounce since May 2025.

Kovac's centenarian victory

Niko Kovac is a Bundesliga veteran, and in his 216th appearance in the competition, the Croatian registered his 100th win, including a 23rd with Dortmund.

Most first-half shots

Dortmund were only 1-0 up at the break but the scoreline didn't do justice to their dominance. The side mustered 18 shots in the opening stanza, the most by any side in the Bundesliga this season.

Set-piece specialists

Jualian Brandt's goal from a corner meant it was their sixth such goal in the league this season, the most by a side in the Bundesliga after only Freiburg (8).

Assist-King Ryerson

Julian Ryerson has been an instrumental figure in the attack for Dortmund and came up trumps yet again, bagging an assist off a corner in the Wolfsburg win. That was his seventh of the league season - behind only Bayern Munich stars Michael Olise (16) and Luis Diaz (9).

Guirassy haunts Wolfsburg again

Serhou Guirassy loves playing against Wolfsburg. With a goal against the side on Saturday, the Guinean international took his tally against them to nine in all competitions from seven appearances.

Some of those strikes have come with VfB Stuttgart too, including a hat-trick during the 2023-24 season. Against no other team has he scored more in his career as Die Wolfe would be dreading the sight of him by now.

Brandt on goalscoring spree

Julian Brandt is quitely having a productive campaign with Borussia Dortmund. An attacking midfielder by trade, the German has struck hit double-digit already with 10 goals in all competitions, including six in the Bundesliga - one more than what he managed in the entirety of 2024-25 season.

Moreover, this was also the fourth time where his goal was the opener for Dortmund. No other player in the league has scored more opening goals than him.
