AS Roma eyeing former Borussia Dortmund head coach to replace Daniele De Rossi

Italian side AS Roma could look to pursue a move for former Borussia Dortmund head coach Edin Terzic after parting ways with Daniele De Rossi.
After a slow start to their UEFA Champions League campaign, AS Roma parted ways with Daniele De Rossi on Wednesday morning. The Roma legend and 2006 World Cup winner had only taken over as head coach in January, but was fired after failing to win any of their opening four games in the Serie A this season.
According to Sky Sport, Edin Terzic is one of the names on AS Roma's list of candidates to replace de Rossi. The report adds that there has been contact yet between the two parties, and other names being considered include Ivan Jurić and another former Borussia Dortmund head coach Thomas Tuchel.
Could Edin Terzic and Mats Hummels be set for AS Roma reunion?
If Terzic does join AS Roma as head coach, he would be reunited with Mats Hummels. The veteran centre-back joined the Italian capital club earlier this month after leaving Borussia Dortmund at the end of last season.
Hummels and Terzic had a bit of a frosty relationship towards the end, with multiple reports claiming that the former would have only extended his contract with Borussia Dortmund if the latter was sacked. Ultimately, Terzic resigned from his role as head coach while the BVB bosses decided against extending Hummels' contract.
Terzic led Borussia Dortmund to the UEFA Champions League final last season, and also came ever so close to winning the Bundesliga title during his first year with the club as permanent head coach. The boyhood BVB fan also won the DFB-Pokal with the Black and Yellows as interim head coach in 2021.
It remains to be seen how serious AS Roma's interest is in appointing Edin Terzic. But if Terzic does make the move to Rome, his potential reunion with Hummels would certainly be an interesting one.
