Niclas Füllkrug will leave Borussia Dortmund just one year after joining the club, with an agreement of €27 million euros in place for him to move to West Ham United.

Borussia Dortmund and West Ham United have reached an agreement over the transfer of Niclas Füllkrug. This is being reported by Kicker, and the report adds that the Black and Yellows will receive a fee of 27 million euros plus five million euros in bonus payments for the sale of the Germany international.

Niclas Füllkrug to leave Borussia Dortmund after just one season at the club

Only the final details are left to be clarified before Füllkrug heads to London to complete his move to West Ham. Borussia Dortmund will likely enter the market for another striker, with Sebastien Haller and Youssoufa Moukoko still free to leave the club.

The exit of Füllkrug comes as a bit of a surprise as he was Borussia Dortmund's first-choice striker last season and played a key role in their run to the UEFA Champions League final. But the arrival of Serhou Guirassy from VfB Stuttgart seemingly soured his relationship with those in charge, and he is now set for a new challenge in the English Premier League.

Füllkrug will sign an initial three year contract with West Ham, and the deal will also include an option to extend. He will reportedly earn a net annual salary of up to three million euros, and will be the first-choice striker for the English Premier League side.

The departure of Niclas Füllkrug is certainly not something Borussia Dortmund would have envisioned, as they wanted to keep him at the club. But it will be interesting to see how they react to the sale of the 31 year old in the coming weeks.
