Borussia Dortmund announce squad for 2024 Asia Tour
By Tushar Bahl
Borussia Dortmund are headed to Asia to play two friendly matches, and the squad for the trip has now been announced.
A total of 26 players have been called up by head coach Nuri Sahin for the trip to Asia, where Borussia Dortmund will take part in two friendly matches. The Black and Yellows will first head to Thailand, where they will take on BG Pathum United on Sunday. BVB will then have a reunion with Shinji Kagawa in Japan on July 24 as they face Cerezo Osaka in a friendly match.
The players involved at the recently concluded European Championship have not been included in the squad, while Gio Reyna will link-up with his teammates in Japan next week after representing the United States at the Copa America earlier this summer. The 21 year old is back at Borussia Dortmund following his loan spell with Nottingham Forest in the second half of last season.
Niklas Süle will lead the Borussia Dortmund squad in the absence of captain Emre Can and vice-captain Gregor Kobel. The likes of Karim Adeyemi, Felix Nmecha, Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, Sebastien Haller, and Ramy Bensebaini have also been named in the squad.
New signing Serhou Guirassy has not been included in the 26-man squad as he continues his recovery from the knee injury he suffered on international duty before completing his move to BVB.
Several players from the youth teams have also been called up, including Paris Brunner, Almugera Kabar, and Tyler Meiser. Cole Campbell has not made the trip after picking up an injury.
