On-loan Borussia Dortmund left-back Ian Maatsen reportedly has a release clause of 35 million euros in his Chelsea contract.

Ian Maatsen enjoyed a successful debut with Borussia Dortmund this past weekend during the Bundesliga clash against SV Darmstadt. The 21 year old slotted straight into the starting XI, just 24 hours after completing his loan move from Chelsea, and made a solid impact at left-back.

The Dutch full-back's performance saw him earn praise from fans, as well as Borussia Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl and head coach Edin Terzic. And while BVB do not have a buy option to make Maatsen's loan signing permanent, the Telegraph are reporting that Chelsea have inserted a release clause of 35 million euros in his contract.

It currently remains to be seen if Borussia Dortmund would be willing to meet that asking price, and it could well depend on whether or not they finish in the top four this season. The Black and Yellows are also set to welcome Tom Rothe back to the club following the talented youngster's loan spell with second division side Holstein Kiel. And they also have Ramy Bensebaini and Julian Ryerson in their ranks at left-back.

Despite his lack of playing time at Chelsea, Ian Maatsen is rated very highly and also attracted the interest of Manchester City and Burnley before joining Borussia Dortmund on loan. He will hope to build on his promising BVB debut and showcase his quality on the Bundesliga and Champions League stage in the coming months.
