By Tushar Bahl
The start of the 2024/25 Bundesliga season is just seven weeks away, and here we take a look at what lies in store for Borussia Dortmund in the coming months.
Borussia Dortmund will begin their Bundesliga campaign with a home game against Eintracht Frankfurt on August 24/25. After a tough test against the Eagles, Nuri Sahin will take his team to face his former employers in Werder Bremen on matchday two.
The Black and Yellows finished last season in fifth place in the Bundesliga standings, and will have their sights set on competing for the Meisterschale in the coming campaign.
Borussia Dortmund’s first meeting against a Champions League rival will take place on matchday four when they travel to VfB Stuttgart (September 20-22). This game will likely see Serhou Guirassy and Waldemar Anton come up against their former club, and will take place after the first matchday of the revamped UEFA Champions League league stage.
The first Der Klassiker of the season will take place at the Westfalenstadion on matchday 12 (November 29 - December 1).
The reverse fixture is scheduled for matchday 29 (April 11-13, 2025). Borussia Dortmund will hope to get the better of Bayern Munich again, having finally ended their winless streak at the Allianz Arena last season.
Bayer Leverkusen vs Borussia Dortmund on the penultimate matchday in the Bundesliga
Reigning Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen will host Borussia Dortmund on the penultimate matchday of the 2024/25 season, and this fixture will no doubt be key to both teams’ hopes for the coming campaign. BVB will also face Xabi Alonso’s side in their opening game of 2025 on matchday 16 (January 10-12, 2025).
Borussia Dortmund will conclude their 2024/25 Bundesliga campaign at the Westfalenstadion against last season’s 2. Bundesliga runners-up Holstein Kiel on May 17.
