Borussia Dortmund will be active in the summer transfer window, as new head coach Nuri Sahin aims to build on last season's Champions League momentum, returning to the elite European stage next campaign. One position which is at the top of Sahin's to-do-list is midfield, which should come as no surprise, given he was a pretty impressive midfielder in his day.

According to a report from HITC, Borussia Dortmund are now interested in signing Pascal Gross of Brighton and Hove Albion. Being a club legend for the South Coast club, Dortmund hope to prize Gross back to his home country, with a tempting potential move to BVB.
It is worth mentioning that Dortmund are not the only side in this transfer race. HITC understands that Stuttgart are also interested in signing Gross, so the player has two routes to the Champions League next season.

Like Dortmund, Brighton are also under new management. New head coach Fabian Hurzeler is bound to experience some issues when he first takes charge of the Seagulls. After all, Roberto De Zerbi formed a great relationship with some players, including Pascal Gross, so it may take some time for Hurzeler to win them over.
Sahin has experience of playing against Gross, when both players where at the earlier stages of their careers. Of course, Sahin began with Borussia Dortmund, whereas Gross began with Hoffenheim. Therefore, the two of them emerged as up and coming youngsters in the Bundesliga around the same time.
Now Sahin has retired but Gross is showing no signs of being close to that stage. In fact, Gross has aged like a fine wine and he is playing some of the best football of his life currently. Finally recognised for being the incredible player he is, Gross was a key member in the Brighton midfield which saw them reach European qualification last season, astronomically.
