Team News

Germany will be sweating on the fitness of Antonio Rüdiger, with the Real Madrid centre-back dealing with a hamstring strain at the moment. Jonathan Tah will also miss the round of 16 tie due to suspension, so Germany may well have to go with a new-look centre-back partnership against Denmark.

Nico Schlotterbeck is primed for his first start of Euro 2024, and he could well be joined at centre-back by future Borussia Dortmund teammate Waldemar Anton.

Other than at centre-back, we are not likely to see any major changes to the Germany starting XI. Although Niclas Füllkrug will hope to get his opportunity after scoring twice off the bench during the group stage.

Denmark will have to make do without key defensive midfielder Morten Hjulmand, who is suspended. Former Borussia Dortmund midfielder Thomas Delaney appears to be in line to replace him. Wolfsburg’s Jonas Wind will partner Manchester United duo Christian Eriksen and Rasmus Højlund in attack for the Danes.

Expected Starting XIs

Germany: Neuer - Kimmich, Rüdiger, Schlotterbeck, Mittelstädt - Andrich, Kroos - Musiala, Gündogan, Wirtz - Havertz

Denmark: Schmeichel - Andersen, Vestergaard, Kristensen - Bah, Delaney, Højbjerg, Mæhle - Wind, Eriksen - Højlund
